DUDE! I thing Im going to have good news tomorrow. Installed the long travel shocks. Drove around the block and swear it super smooth. Tomorrow will be the true test on my drive into work! :SOMBRERO: :BANANA:

Well that took care of the majority of the bounce. Still feels like something is bent but upfront. I no longer feel like a fat jiggly stripper! Now back to troubleshooting...

I did get them finally. however driving more the placebo effect is gone and I still bounce a ton. I am actually leaning toward the issue being a crappy highway with stiff rear springs makes for a bunch of bounce. I have been able to find very little info similar to my issue. Apparently it feels kinda like tire belt separation, or like I have a slightly oblong tire. The tires are new and I had the same bounce on my old tires. it bounces enough to cause cupping. could also feel like a warped rotor. problem is rotors are new. Hubs are new....... So Im blaming the freeway. I can confirm this as I have yet to fins a road that will only let me feel the jeep!

here is how i feel it
0-10mph jeep has a slight but constant wobble
10-20 it turns into a side to side bounce similar to wobble but with more up and down
20-35 everything decreases
35+ nothing is felt

like the rim its self? not sure how to tell if its bent they all balance. was thinking the shaft on the right or left could be slightly bent as well.

A road balance is the best. It where the machine balances as if tire is on road. Lots of good tire shops do it this way.
A wobble can also be front CV shaft, as I just found on my fwd corolla. 6 months old and it bent. Must be high hp of 02 corolla, sarcasm

Well I'm pretty sure I found the cause of my bouncing.....rear toe is out of wack. Now how the heck do I figure out if it's the axle or housing? Anyone?

How do you adjust toe on a rear solid axle?
Or are you talking toe on the front axle? I need a beer.

you dont and that is the problem look at how far off the numbers. Something is definitely bent. Probably from when I hit a rock when i was uneducated on properly cruising the trails! I just dont know how to determine if I need to change the axle shaft, the housing or the whole darn thing. :banghead: At least I know what I'm in for.

Have you verified their readout with another shop? Might be their machine or their operator. I"d check that before I'd start shelling out dough for new parts. If both shops get the same numbers, then look into replacement parts.

Definitely get another shop to look at it as said in previous post. And, have you swapped tires over, or put full size spare on left rear?
I can see the axle housing getting bent a little. Must have been a large hit.
But, tire would be worn pretty bad too if toe is out that much.
One last thing, suspension pieces like to be torqued down when under load, so, if there was anything replaced prior to this change, loose and retighten on the ground, if ya can.

Are you referring to the left rear with the 0.38 degree toe? Does that number mean that the bottom of the tire is sticking out more than top of the tire?
Are you sure nobody smacked your wheel while parking or something?
Or could you get that kind of leaning if the wheel bearing was going bad?
Or could you have some loose lug nuts, which allow the tire angle to be slightly off?

Just brainstorming. With a solid rear axle, the axle housing itself would have to be bent on the left side (since it seems fine on the right). If the left axle shaft or the hub was bent, I'd imagine you'd feel a rhythmic vibration while driving.

Actually I was thinking more if the plane of the wheel hub surface is no longer true with the plane of the wheel rim.
The easiest way to see this is to have someone driving and another person following while driving about 30mph. when following if there is any substantial runout you can usually spot it if the wheels and tires are clean. Muddy spots can give a false illusion of runout (wobble).
