Stock size Mastercraft were on my kj 06 when I bought it. They were completely bald, but were worn perfectly even, and had no cords showing. So if kept properly rotated, balanced, and aligned, they don't have any weirdness in treadwear. I had a set of Hercules tires on a 1961 Ford Falcon wagon years ago, that would always wear faster on the RWL side, no matter how it was aligned or they were oriented. Replaced them with Michelin, and no more problems.
Check out simpletire.com You can inter your vehicle, select the features and price range you want, and you can run the whole gamut of available treads and brands. They are getting a pretty good library of ratings and experienced complete with driving styles, vehicle types, and type of use, so you get an idea if their opinion is relevant to you.
