hey guys,

last night i found the heat shield for the side of my exhaust (its the shield between the muffler & gas tank/driveshaft) hanging down, i busted one of the straps. so to get home i ripped it off completely. does anyone foresee an issue if i don't replace it or should i be running to my local Mopar to order one?

thank you,

I was once told that the fiberglass pad style is the 1 that really matters. The shield can be tossed, it'll just let the floor get a little hotter there. BUT that's just what I was told, ditch it at you're own risk.

The shield on the muffler itself, the one around the spare tire, or the one on the floor board above the prop shaft(underbody transmission tunnel shield)?
Do you have a 4x4 or 2wd? What year?
If its the one on the muffler itself, I would not worry to much about it. After market mufflers do not have one...

If it is the one which attaches to floor board above the prop shaft (underbody transmission tunnel shield), your rig is an 08, and you have a 2wd, there is a recall for it falling off. Recall N10.

If it is the one around the spare tire/ fuel tank, I'd get it replaced or replace it myself.

I've been running an after market Magnaflow muffler for 6 years with no issues, or complaints from the rear seat passengers about a hot floor.
