Post subject:  Can you stack new struts and daystar lift?

Ok guys, so I went to install a Daystar 2" poormans lift the other day. I pulled everything out, got the lift plate attached to the strut assembly and I began to put that thing back in. I then realized that the KK already had a new strut assembly by the previous owner with Old Man Emu components which is longer than stock. It appeared that the geometry of everything, with the suspension being longer already and the body lift, it just would not squeeze back into place. The spring base was resting on the CV axle and I could not get the strut assembly back into the lower A arm even with some counter jacking etc.

Sooo.. I did not have a spring compressor on when trying to reinstall it, because I thought I had stock suspension and could work it in without it. With the OME, obviously I couldn't do it. I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around the geometry of everything as it is not my forte.

Question is, Can the KK take the suspension strut lift and the two inch plate (poor mans lift) on the strut assembly also? It just looked like there was no way I was going to get the sway bar back into position and get the spring base off of the CV axle. If I have a spring compressor, just compress the hell out of it and bolt everything back up to the knuckle before un-compressing it and it would work?

Did I miss a step or is it just not possible?

Thanks for the help, I would like to get the clearance for my 265/75/16s I have on as they are pretty tight.

You can't do a body lift on a unibody vehicle like the KK,not possible since the frame and body are one piece and a body lift is "lifting" the body up on the frame.

^^That I was aware of. Poor choice of words.. I corrected it.

Real question is can you stack an aftermarket (longer) strut assembly with a 2" daystar steel riser and make it fit for a combined, higher lift?

Some have and always ended in complete failure.

So what is the maximum lift you can fit into the KK without having to revamp other suspension components?

To go to 4 inches of lift lots of other things must be done and added
JBA coilovers to start
new rear track bar, rear extended sway bar links
then of course if going larger tires, then a regear to the very least 4.10s preferably 4.56s

start looking through the jeepinbyal site and running the numbers

What is the part number on the front and rear OME springs? That's a real bad idea to add that spacer to the coilover assembly, but you can do a 1/4" top plate (jeepinbyal.com) to get an extra .5". For the rear you can add a couple spring isolators too.
You may want to consider new upper control arms too, hard to tell in one of your pics but it looks like you have a torn ball joint boot?
