Had off-road warehouse lift the front end to 4" (22" exactly hubcap to fender). They welded the seam of the pinchweld (looks like they did a half booty job to me). Then aligned it again. No more tire rub, there's now about 1/2" clearance on full turn. The Jeep is now with the dealership where I asked them to recalibrate the steering angle sensor to see if that helps with the unwanted ESP activation. Basically they have no idea how to do it and the tech wants to replace the clock spring for 550$. I told them if the clock spring needs to be replaced I'll do it myself. I'm not sure what else to tell them about the SAS, they seem clueless.

Your KK auto-re-calibrates itself.

Is there anything I can do (other then lowering/smaller tires) to prevent the ESP kicking in on slow left turns?

You can try asking them to reinitialized the ABS module.
You can ask them to "clear offsets by initializing the ECU with wheels pointing straight ahead".

you can hit that little esp button and take care of it :jester:

IIRC, there was a write up on how to calibrate the ESP. I'll see if I can find it.

Dealership couldn't figure it out. I showed them Scar0's posts but this didn't seem to help them. They wanted to replace the clockspring. Any chance that would help?

Bone heads...
Have them look up codes:
C1231-DRIVE TEST: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
C1219–STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ERRATIC PERFORMANCE
C1240–STEERING ANGLE SENSOR OVERTRAVEL PERFORMANCE
C123F–STEERING ANGLE SENSOR COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE

Better yet, take it to a dealer who knows how to work on Jeeps. :dizzy:

Well I'm not sure how to find one at this point. I feel like if I take it somewhere else the same thing might happen

The best Jeep mechanics are found on trail, helping other folks fix their busted rigs after he's winched them out of some muddy ravine that theirs broke in.

Guys is there anything else I can do regarding the ESP? I'm not confident bringing it to another dealership will bring about any different results. No one has any idea how to work on liberties

I leased a Jeep, new, from the National City dealership in 2003.

After taking it to them for the first lube change and tire rotation, I found their service department didn't bother to rotate in the spare, and didn't even know how to update the TPMS.

After that I always took it to the Escondido dealer for all the scheduled service, walked to the San Diego Blood Bank to donate, and it was always done when I got back.

I never had a problem with them.

It was an 04 Grand Cherokee w/plus size MT tires, rather than a Liberty, and not lifted, but until 2009, at least, their service department was competent.

Thank you. I live in Encinitas so Escondido is doable. I will check them out
