My guess is a lot of folks have moved to Facebook. A few of us old codgers still hang out here and try to help when we can. :ALONE:

Why I'm not on fakebook.

I'd say 50% of all that is wrong with this country is cause of that site.

He's been pretty busy lately. I haven't seen him much on the forums in a long time. I haven spoken to him the other day in facebook though.

As for me, I float everywhere from JF to FB to here. Just not much going on lately. Been struggling to pay off the wedding and come up with a down payment on a house before the big day. Leaves little free time and money for the Jeep and other hobbies.

It's rough. The wedding is essentially paid for. Now it's time for the house, which isn't cheap in NY, especially on Long Island. It'll all pay off, but the KK really needs tires and gears....and I've been itching for an AR-10 before hunting season comes. It'd be a nice change of pace from my Remington...

Hate to tell them, going to and using facebook proves they do not know what they are doing. Having been there, done that, killed account years ago, never looked back. Sorry but from the IT and security side, living on facebook is just down right creepy and is nothing more then web-stalking and also dulls what little social skills they may have. Forums are much less a security-breach issue. IMO of course. :CAMPING: :JEEPIN:

I totally agree with tc1uscg assessment of FB and would extend that to several other similar sites.
Been in IT for more years then I am willing to admit... All my clients have me block FB, and other similar web sites, from their business computers. Its amazing to see how much productivity goes up when folks actually work, when at work.
The workers can still get to FB with their personal devices VIA a separate isolated network or VIA their personal wireless carriers, when on their breaks. Its the only way to protect the business computers.
Point in case:
One client I had, wanted their users to have full internet access. Then someone downloaded the ransom virus. It quickly propagated to all the other computers within the business VIA network shares and mapped network drives. 60K later to replace/rebuild all their systems and database, and now they restrict access to the internet. Thank goodness I set up a good backup policy for them, or the cost would have been much more...
Rant done and back to topic... :dizzy:

The forums always seem to slow down during the summer months and pick up as folks settle back into their normal schedule.
Forums are still the best source of reliable "real" information IMO.

I get the online stalking part but I'd be willing to bet fb has better security policies in place than any forum and Not everyone over there is an idiot.
Most security threats of the general users are the general users themselves. I haven't used anti virus and on my personal gear for at least the last 5 years. I have never had a virus. Trust me when I tell you you did not win a trip to Nicaragua; so please don't click the link.

Just saying

I will check in every month or so, but I mostly use facebook myself. It's so much easier to post pictures and messages from a phone. The forum is just more "clunky". But I do hope this place stays active. It's a great reservoir of knowledge.

Problem with fakebook is the fact you have 3 people a day asking the same exact question.
No " easy " way to look things up and it just gets old after a while to keep posting the exact same answers

For once Tommudd, you can I can agree on something! :ROTFL:

The search bar on facebook is getting better inside groups but of course, like anything... you have to have someone willing to use it to get it to work.
