Post subject:  clunking noise in frontend

When my 2011 KK is first driven, there is a clunking noise from the right front. After it is driven, the noise goes away. Sounds like something is hitting the frame. I jacked it up, checked the bearings, and everything looks ok. Any ideas?

If recently lifted re-torque all bolts with the wheels on the ground.

Check your ball joints. Mine made an occasional noise at takeoff in the months before it went bad. Also check the tie rod ends for play.

Thanks. I'll try to get it on the lift this weekend.

Do you mean it happens just once when you start driving? If thats what's happening and it is around 15-18MPH, it's most likely the ABS pump doing it's self test.

It makes the noise for about the first 5 minutes or so that it is driven. Took it to the shop yesterday and of course we couldn't duplicate the noise. The mechanic said that it was possibly a strut and recommended changing them out.
