Whenever I drive over any bumps in the road or speed bumps, there is a loud clanking/bouncing noise. I have 93000 miles on my 08, and I want to rebuild the front end anyway, just at a loss for what could be the specific cause of this rattle, and for what front end components I should change out while I have it apart.

Check upper ball joints for wear & escess play!
Mine was making a clunking noise when going over bumps when I first purchased my Jeep CRD and and I found one of the front upper ball joints had a lot of play in it. I replaced both upper control arms with Moog units. MOOG Part # CK3198

X2 on the ball joints! Once they start making noise they can degrade quickly and become very unsafe. Separation will cause the wheel to turn completely sideways and inflict serious front suspension & fender damage (in addition to an accident).

I took it into a trusted shoo, they told me both lower ball joints were shot. I bought two new ones from autozone, should I go ahead and replace the upper ones while I have it apart? Im going to be replacing the front shocks and springs, and swaybar bushings too.

Hopefully the ones you bought have grease zerks
if not return them
Should be MOOG Part No: K80629

as far as the rest are you just going back to stock or upgrading to a better suspension system?

The lower ball joints I bought are just basic Autozone brand. I will return them tomorrow and see if they have the moog part. I am keeping it stock, just want to freshen it all up and ensure that it is safe for my family. I bought Gabriel loaded struts, and rear shocks. I am going to get a set of sway bar bushings and end links, they aren't hard to replace and I might as well knock them out while I am down there. Ill be changing all my fluids next weekend, transmission, front/rear differential, brake fluid and rubber lines, and oil. 92k miles, and she is starting to show her age.
