Can anyone help me diagnose an air bag light problem?

I see from Internet searches the light can blink 2-digit codes (blinks, pause, blinks) that can help identify a problem. Mine, however, self tests, then comes on steady without blinking.

Recently I have done the 100,000-mile service (replace timing belt) so I've had the front apart as well as poking around on the intake side of the engine. (Near the EGR pipes, battery, anti-lock brakes module) I might have taken a connector loose to gain access to something, and missed reconnecting it.

Are there any air bag connectors in that area? (Connector C100)

I did find an unconnected 2-wire yellow connector near the front bumper. Upon re-examining that area, I could not find a unit to plug it into. Removing the protective cup behind the bumper, I found nothing -- where I expected to find an air bag crash sensor.

Oddly enough, there has not been anything there since I got the vehicle, yet only recently the light came on.

Area of yellow connector...

Did more research. Connector C100 is located just at the driver's door in the end of the dashboard. I haven't had that open so C100 should not be part of my problem.

Furthermore, the crash sensors are located on the backside of the radiator mount framework, not on the bumper. That is certainly in the area I've been mucking around, so I'll look there tomorrow.

Daylight brought success !! Thanks to the documentation shared in this forum, there was enough information to find the Front Impact Sensor and plug it back in.

Turned on the key and the AirBag light went out as normal.

Glad you found it!

Air bags are one of those things not found on "classic" cars, that I'm glad we have now. Particularly when teenagers are driving.
