Post subject:  Adding 82212936AB to Media Center 130 with Satellite Radio ?

Just got my wife a 2012 KK with the base stereo with Sirius. My wife insists that we keep the stock stereo for that OEM look.
We have a 2003 KJ that I was able to get a PXDP (iPod2Car) Universal iPod Adapter" that connected to the CD changer connector on the stock stereo and I used an iPod classic. (I started looking for a similar solution but hopefully just using a flash drive instead)

On the KK I would really like a USB port to connect a flash drive with MP3s so I can play music in the Liberty. I have done a lot of googling and I read about the 82212936AB. My KK does not have the stock subwoofer in the rear cargo area.

Has anyone added a 82212936AB to the stock stereo to get a USB port?

If so where is the uConnect module in the KK if there is no subwoofer installed?

Am I way off track on this and is there a better way I have not found to get USB? This is a 5 year old vehicle so I know I am not the first to look for it but I have not found it yet :-)

Thanks for any suggestions!

Can't answer the Q about adding the USB port.
The U-connect module should be either, behind the glove box, or in the passenger kick panel.
I do not know if your U-connect has that port, so check it out before buying.

Remember to always disconnect the Neg(-) battery cable and wait ten minutes before working on the KK!
Especially when working on the electrics. No need to have your airbags pop off accidentally...

Thanks - is the uConnect a "box" or is it more like a cable? Just so I know what I am looking for. I removed the glove box and there was nothing behind there that looked like a box.

It will be a box with wire harness, 4x6x1.5". It could also be in the RR quarter panel even without an amplifier.

Got back from Thanksgiving vacation last night and investigated the KK dash today. Nothing behind the stereo itself. Nothing behind the glove box or in the passenger side body panel. Nothing under the drivers side dash - I looked behind/under the steering wheel and kick panel too since the cable to the head unit goes that direction.

I guess I need to figure out how to open the passenger cargo wall area now. It would be weird since there is no sub woofer. Long cable run for nothing - but I guess if the wiring for all models/options is standard I can see why the uconnect might be there. That is the farthest point from any of the other audio components though.

Yup - uconnect was in the cargo area passenger side. All by itself - with a space in front where I suppose an OEM subwoofer would have gone (if someone bought option originally).

I followed the directions provided in this post on http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f231/adding-user-interface-cable-usb-sub-equipped-kk-52259/ to open the area up

- Unclip the top and bottom trim pieces from the hatch.
- Use a torx head screwdriver to remove the right tie down Dring.
- Use a screwdriver and open the trapdoor cover at the top of the post next to the right passenger seat.
- Remove the phillips screw located underneath and
- Unsnap every clip holding the plastic panel around the right rear window that you can without removing the rear seat.

I took a couple quick pics ...
