Hi - I have had many different Jeeps but picked up my first liberty (2008/approx. 80k/bone stock) in October. When the weather turned cold (around 20F) we began to have problems with the ignition switch not turning. It doesn't appear related to steering wheel lock. When temp increased problems disappear.
I have had problems with cylinder wear in the past, but this has a programmable key so am leery of just ripping it out and replacing. Has anyone else a similar problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

That's often the case when the factory lube (grease) in the lock gets cold, and turns to basically wax.
Use a good spray lube such as
https://www.amazon.com/Super-Lube-31110-Aerosols-Multi-Purpose/dp/B01LZ50F48/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1514498098&sr=8-3&keywords=synco+super+lube
or
https://www.amazon.com/Tri-Flow-TF20006-Superior-Lubricant-12-Ounce/dp/B000SKY3GO/ref=pd_sim_236_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000SKY3GO&pd_rd_r=GA16X9SV2YTZDTZ3HBB2&pd_rd_w=rx3XD&pd_rd_wg=cESGS&psc=1&refRID=GA16X9SV2YTZDTZ3HBB2

This will soften the grease, flush out dust/dirt, and allow the lock to move freely.
Give it a shot every fall, and you won't have that problem again.
