I've decided to go with the JBA 4" Silver Lift and am now planning the rest of the project. My plan is to keep the factory 17" wheels, so tires get a little tricky.

It's my understanding that 32" tires can work with a little trimming, which I'm open to doing. However, if i go from the factory 29" tires and my 3.73 gear ratio, will I need/want to regear if I make the adjustments to support 32" tires?

If I limit myself to 31" tires, will the gearing be fine? Or will I still want to regear?

Also, one additional data point. I will most likely add those heavy ATH bumpers at some point. I'm guessing that the extra weight from that heavy steel might influence your replies.

Thanks so much. I'm quickly growing to appreciate you all!

I have 31's and a 4 inch lift on mine. I noticed a reduction in mpg and power when I went from the stock 29's to the 31's, and have not yet regeared. It is not a deal killer, but I think 4.10's would be helpful, especially when towing. I can't imagine going to 32's and not regearing. I would think you'd never be able to cruise in 4th gear unless you were going downhill, and it would put a lot of strain and wear on your transmission over time. For 32's, 4.10 gears would be minimal but 4.56 gears would be helpful if towing or if you live in a mountainous area.

4 inch lift and 30.5-31 inch tires 4.10 gearing
if 32 and above 4.56s
I run 4.10s and 265-70-16s 30.6 inches tall on my 03 and does great, power on hills etc plus good gas mileage
I ran 4.10s and 32s on my 04 and it was lacking on hills etc
Both are running JBA coilover lifts , 04 at 4 plus, 03 at 2.5 inches

One road ( 110 miles of interstate highway, then 25 miles of two lane roads ) I counted number of times the 03 downshifted holding at 75 on interstate, 60 on two lane with the 265-70-16s and stock gearing it was over 30 times. With the same tires and 4.10s, one time . So better mileage, less transmission issues etc with regearing
