Hi Folks I recently installed a usb phone charger, and in an attack of slackness piggybacked it off the cig lighter. FAIL Can one of you good folk direct me to a link showing a power source in the dash I can hook it up to, mine is RHD. Cheers in advance. |

Why did the cigarettes lighter power fail? Did it blow a fuse? If you’re looking to be able to charge the device while the key is off, you can change the position of the cigarette lighter fuse. I believe it is M7 if memory serves. One position is on and off with the key, and the other is power all the time. |

Most of the electronics are computer controlled so it will be hard to find a Aux/run B+ feed in the cabin. The TIPM monitors the draw on each computer controlled circuit, so adding an accessory to one of those is not a good idea. It would just be better to run a new fused wire into the cab from the battery and use that. |

Ha! Thanks. If you do bring a new fused wire in from the battery, the best place to go through the firewall is through the rubber plug just below the brake booster. Poke a hole (or two) through the plug with a coat hanger and feed your wires through it. |

Also be careful when you push the sharpened hanger thru the grommet to not dislodge it. It is tough to get back in place. Been there, done that. If you tape the wire to the end of the hanger and pull it thru the grommet together, the rubber grommet has enough ply to seal around the wire. Also if you poke the hanger thru at a slight upward angle from inside the engine bay, any water that gets on the wire will drip out, not into the cab. Once the wire is thru the grommet where you want it, pull it back into the engine bay a little. This pulls the rubber outward around the wire to form little "lips", for a lack of a better word, for a better seal. No extra sealant needed that way. |

Ok thanks all. I already have a power suppply going through the car for the fridge/boat winch. Sometimes I miss a fusebox dodgy job. The phone charger has a tiny led, I suppose I am going to have to install a relay to avoid dead battery? |
