i get this god awful banging noise in the floor while driving. mostly when it is cold. when i put it in 4x4 it seem to deminish, i removed the front drive shaft for a few days to see if it was the joint but it is still there. not as loud but it is still there. it seem to be more when cold and slightly turning to left. i pulled the RF cv shaft and it does not bind. but it will not come free from the intermediate shaft. should the intermediate shaft pull out of the diff easy or should it be retained slightley. sounds like the shaft is banging into the floor. no kidding.

Check a heat shield that may be hanging down on your rear driveshaft and getting kicked up against the floor as it spins. Since the driveshaft is aluminum and the heat shield steel, it could cut through it eventually. There was a TSB on this a while back that affected 2WD KK’s. Anyway that was my first thought.

Check the front differential rear mounting point. I believe it is technically called the "the front differential, rear pinion mount". A KA owner had his break. When his broke the front prop shaft bolts were hitting it. When it is not broken there is only about 1/4" clearance from the front prop shaft.
Check the front motor mount bolts and bushings.
Inspect the front springs closely. Again, a KA owner had an OEM spring break in half.(under normal use, no off roading.) He lives in an area of heavy road salt use.
The KA and KK share a lot of the same running gear.

Make sure your spare tire isn't loose. Mine was slightly loose a while back and it made a loud creaking noise whenever I turned.
