Now that I have the ATH front bumper It looks like it needs something, some kind of ornament that will make it pretty and I thought, aja! what about a winch. I was researching and googling and the first choice is WARN (M8000 = $682.25 8,000lb w/fairlead) with SUPERWINCH (TS 595200 9,500lb = $349.99) close in second and in third place SUPERWINCH (LP8500 8,500lb = $299.99 w/o fairlead)The problem is the price for the WARN is twice de price of any other winch. Reviews are saying that you will not regret to have a WARN (M8000) winch in your vehicle. Any thoughts! |

I have a Smittybilt X20 10k and it's been great. I use it a lot and have completely submerged it with no issues. Came with a wireless remote and a wire to plug it in if the remote battery dies. It has a quick line speed too. I ended up switching to an UltRanger 3/8" synthetic line and it was totally worth it. Steel sucks to use. You have to worry about cutting yourself, it's very heavy, it's a pain when it bird nests, and it's dangerous if it snaps.

I had a WARN 9500XP with 100' of 3/8" synthetic rope,very fast under load(only 2 winches beat it in speed under load),but yeah very expensive also. |

I had to go cheap, got a Harbor Freight Badlands 12,000 lb winch with remote and mounting plate for about $350 total. Im about ready to install my ATH bumper, same as yours, soon. Need to prep it and paint it, then the winch goes on. Ill be regreasing and waterproofing the winch before it goes on, supposedly that makes them much more reliable. |

Congrats on your ATH bumpers they are super, I hope your Harbor Freight Badlands doesn’t transduce into BAD-lands experiences. I read the reviews on it, most seemed pleased with it. Some said they sealed the ends and got rid of the chinese crap grease and replaced it with the good stuff. Im not out hardcore wheeling, still has stock suspension with 245/70/17 mud tires. I do have lockers for the front and back plus the skid plates to put on. That wil help some for offroading. I like hill climbing and rock crawling, not so much into mud. Its fun but a pain to clean out. I had a Warn 8274 on a 76 FJ40. I loved it, but they are over $2000 now. |
