Looking into this further the only problem with the FJ forum comparison is that they are using a very differently designed H4 lamp which has the hoods to control light whereas the H13 used in the KK is simply emitting light in all directions except the top of the filament. Until I see a comparison that shows good light spread from a KK I’ll just stick to halogens or perhaps a projector mod.

Umm, my Oz delivered KK has H4/9003 Hi/Low dual filament headlight globes and H10/9145 fog light globes. What year model is yours to have H13's? Hope you're not relying on the American printed user manual info....mines wrong, lists the US spec globes, not RHD Oz spec.

I have used many led H4 globes in my off road motorbike, and from all that experience and seeing what others have used and the result, these will probably be my next purchase. 1000Lumens low beam, 1300Lumens high beam, each globe, in Euro Lumens, not chinese in 'pairs' quoted figures.

But the issue is thete appears to be many diffetent versions...6000k, 6200k, 150%+, 200%+
And they all specify the same Philips 12953BWX2 part number!
https://www.amazon.com/H4-Philips-12953BWX2-LED-Bulbs/dp/B013DHXKK8
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PHILIPS-H4-LED-X-treme-Ultinon-12953BWX2-Hi-Low-beam-6000K-150-Germany-/252947606016

They have all the required features to work properly and reliably.
No fan, proper cut-off hoods, light emitters in the correct focal points, and pretty sure canbus compatible.

Hi, did you try it on your KK? I would like to buy it on mine, but I'm afraid they will not work properly.... i hope to be wrong

I am just making some enquiries about this setup for the European and Australian H4 owners and will go that way if they say it will work. Will get back to you with pictures etc.

I just ordered these from them.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/H4-LED-Head ... 1438.l2649

I'll let you know how it goes. They were not sure if I would need the canbus module or not as I could unplug one stock headlight and not warnings came up and the other still worked fine. If it flickers or turns off after a short time, I'll have to get one of these which they use on other Jeep models like the JK.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/H4-CANBUS-C ... 1438.l2649

Anyone else done LED's yet?

30 day money back guarantee if I am not happy in anyway with the lights so worth a try.

Learnt a lot after watching this for which type of designs to look out for.

and this one although over a year old now.

If you have the extra cash to spend the GTR Lighting Gen 3 Ultra seems to be the way to go.

I'll add my write here as well as my build.

Image
The stock lights are pretty bad on the KK. With the plastic lenses, I couldn't run the 145/100W bulbs like my XJ, as would melt them! So thought I would give LED replacement bulbs a try. The Australian and European versions of the Jeep have H4 bulbs with a high and low in one. https://www.stedi.com.au/led-headlight-conversion-daytime-running-lights-drl/led-headlight-conversion-kits.html

Image
I did a lot of research into picking the right design and a polished solid billet stem with the hooded top set of LEDs to mimic the stock bulbs was best. Learnt a lot after watching this for which type of designs to look out for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeaDrH0gXZk and this one, although over a year old now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQF5ESBHLrw If you have the extra cash to spend the GTR Lighting Gen 3 Ultra seems to be the way to go and can see the similar design and LEDs used..

Image
These run three hooded for high beam and three hooded for low beam on each side giving a total of 12 LEDs per bulb. They are 5700K to give a clean white light at over 200% more lumens than stock light per bulb. See all the specs here. https://www.stedi.com.au/copper-head-h4-led-head-light-conversion-kit.html

Image
Kit comes with 2 LED bulbs and 2 drivers. Some cars need an extra module to stop the warning light as the CANBUS detects low draw. Just pull the plug off one headlight before ordering and see if a warning comes up. If it does a resister type module is needed to simulate a higher draw. If the LEDs flicker once installed you need a capacitor type module. Usually only a problem if you have DRL lights that run the headlights at a lower voltage by pulsing the power to drop the voltage. I didn't need anything else for this installation.

Image
Did a quick test before installing them to make sure there was no flickering or warning light coming up.

Image
On my version with the H4 bulbs/globes, it is just a matter of pressing the tags on the sides of the plug and pulling the plug off. Then the rubber boot pulls off as well. On the US versions you have to twist a plastic cap to get to the plug.

Image
Release the two springs that hold the bulb in place from the metal clip on the left side. Bulb will now come straight out.

Image
I pushed through the wire and braided heat sinks through the boot, just part of the way to leave enough room to for the holding clips next.

Image
Put the bulb back in and the clips as well.

Image
The wire from the bulbs plug straight into one end of the driver. Make sure you match up the arrows. The other end of the driver cable just plugs into the Jeep's headlight plug and that is all there is to it!

Image
I used the provided cable ties to hold the driver in place on the harness. The braids also need to be fanned out to dissipate the heat.

Image
Left side halogen and right side LED, low beam.

Image
Left side halogen and right side LED, high beam.

Image
Low beam halogen from about 6 meters or 20' away. Notice the stray light stock above the base boards. Any brighter lights are only going to make that worse I'm afraid.

Image
Low beam LED. It does show up the stray light more that was also there with the halogen bulbs. Looks a lot worse in this photo than it really is though and the stray light is less than a cheap torch.

Image
High beam halogen.

Image
High beam LED.

Image
Low beam halogens. Notice the yellow shade. Have to apologise for the street photos as forgot to set the camera to glass through, so the focus is not good. It was nearly 1 am, so didn't feel like shooting them all again!

Image
Low beam LED. Much whiter and brighter light.

Image
High beam halogens.

Image
High beam LED.

These LED’s look really good! They seem to mostly eliminate the scatter problem that happens when people use HID bulbs in the stock lenses. I’ll be interested to see what you think when you have run them for a while, whether they continue to be as bright, whether the Jeep’s computer continues to play nice with them, and if you have any issues with overheating the bulbs. (Interesting idea for heat sinks on these things.) So far they look like an amazing improvement! How much did they set you back with currency exchange and shipping from Australia?

I added this LED headlight thread to the KK How-To’s Index in the Tech section because I’m sure people will be wanting to know about these options.

I will report back how they go and if the bother other road users too.
I live in Australia so only paid $142 due to 5% off if paying with paypal at the moment as bought them through their eBay store.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/H4-LED-Head ... 1438.l2649

In US at the moment that is only $102 USD.

Sorry wiz I missed this, yeah ok H4 it is! That’ll make life easier. May I add to the subject by mentioning this OBD program that can set your headlight output to non PWM and hence no flicker with LED: https://appcar-diagfca.com/en/supported ... p-liberty/

Can anyone recommend a good mid priced led conversion headlight kit for 2011 liberty kk ?

I previously looked for new headlight bulbs on my 2007 Jeep Commander. I had no luck finding anything that would fit my car. I eventually found a site called Car LED Headlights (https://carledheadlights.com/jeep/commander/2007/). They had a great selection of LED conversion kits that were specifically designed for my car. I was able to find the perfect set of headlights for my car and they were very easy to install. I would highly recommend this site if you are looking for new headlight bulbs for your car. :o

I don't understand why many drivers started switching to LED lamps. I continue to use xenon. Xenon headlights can last about four years. Long service life is one of the main advantages of this type of headlight. Xenon headlights produce a powerful luminous flux, while they heat up less during use. Even if water gets on the headlights, the protective glasses do not crack. It is also mandatory to have flashlights and several other light bulbs in the car. It is necessary to replace the lighting in emergencies and continue driving promptly.

To me, nothing beats the nice brilliant true daylight white light of LED's, that is why I converted all my vehicles headlamps and fog lamps over to LED bulbs.
Everything else always seemed too yellow for my taste. :juggle:
