Can anyone recommend a good mid priced led conversion headlight kit for 2011 liberty kk ?

Good kits start close to $200 and great kits $500+.

I was Looking at these. I'm not interested in cutting up my wiring to defeat the Can-Bus system with a resistor. Id rather add something in between like whats offered here.

But as tj stated, good ones are not cheap, and cheap ones won't produce enough or the right type of light!

thanks for the info. I have tried a cheaper version and now need to install the cancelers on them. As far as quality they are 12000 lumens and have a hint of blue. I also swapped out the white fogs for a golden yellow led. They are really nice....2011 liberty jet 70th anniversary edition.

If you paid less then $1000 they are not anywhere close to 12,000 lumens.

Some of the best LED headlights on the market are less than half that and cost $700+.

Yeah, those Asian Lumens tend to be a bit on the light side.

yeah no kidding.

My buddy at work has a knock-off 52" bar on his truck(paid $80 for it,high quality(not)) and it claims 30,000 lumens while my $600 Rigid 20" bar is actually rated correctly at 11,000 lumens and my buddy even states my bar is over twice as bright as his 52" bar.

I've seen a single Rigid outshine another rig with 3 much bigger bars (some off-brand).
From the LEDs they use to the shapes of their reflectors, and lens materials, Rigid is definitely top-shelf.
But their price reflects it. In this case, both guys had about the same money in their lights, ($1000+) but the single Rigid unit was clearly superior.
3 big bars may look more badass, bolted to the rig, but the difference is clear at night.

I have used many led H4 globes in my off road motorbike, and from all that experience and seeing what others have used and the result, these will probably be my next purchase. 1000Lumens low beam, 1300Lumens high beam, each globe, in Euro Lumens, not chinese in 'pairs' quoted figures.

But the issue is thete appears to be many diffetent versions...6000k, 6200k, 150%+, 200%+
And they all specify the same Philips 12953BWX2 part number!

Don't forget those LED lights were designed to be used in a projector housing. The KJ/KK has a halogen housing and you will scatter light everywhere and have hot spots. You will blind on coming drivers because they do not have the proper cut off in the beam.

Also the farther away you get from natural day light the less usable light is put out. Most OEMs use a 4300k temp bulb. Once you start getting into the blue tint temps (5500k+) the less efficient the light is.

If you're going to do it, then do it correct and do a proper projector retrofit. Idk about the KK but on the KJ it's really a simple mod.

Umm, not the Phillips H4 I posted...take a closer look. They do have proper cut-off low beam hoods like H4 Halogen globes, and the light emmitters are in the exact same place as Halogen filiments, meaning no hot/dark spots. They are the only H4 LED I have seen to have these features and be fanless too.

No projector I know of uses a H4 Halogen globe, the hood would be upside-down unless the H4 was mounted in the projector upside-down, then the low beam cutoff angle would be the wrong way for the road?

I agree with the light colour though, 5000k is much 'kinder' to the eye than this current fad with +6000k blue white.

Does not matter where the LED chip is they are designed for projector housings.

Halogen filaments shine at a 360 degree range in the bulb,LED's are only 180 degrees.

Pics of the Phillips fitted to a FJ (without projector lenses), and an owners comparison to Halogen and OPT7 LED's (which I wouldnt have even ever touched cause they do not have the required features to be half decent).

Generally I’d read your posts to be spot on (excuse the pun) but I sense you’re missing the point of the cut off hoods, obviously these are only there because halogen filaments emit light in all directions and the hood is an attempt to reduce this by roughly half. As Wiz.au points out the physical arrangement is similar so the reflection of light should also be similar.

Btw that FJ forum link is not working for me, I’m keen to see some comparison tests.
