I had the heater core replaced in my 2010 about a year and a half ago. Last night I noticed the unmistakable odor of coolant inside the truck. Nothing wet just odor. I am assuming the new core has developed a leak but will not know for sure until my mechanic checks it out. I am wondering what brand/make a core you guys have used. I am 99% sure I went with this Spectra unit. I'm a little leery of getting the same one, but I understand even with good makes you can get a bum unit. https://www.autozone.com/cooling-heatin ... 303200_0_0 |

I've used Spectra brand for many years, with good service. yes you might've snagged a bum. That said, these days, what aftermarket company is 100% anymore?? seems to be the 'norm' anymore.. your mechanic might of 'dinged' it during installation. your radiator cap might need checking for too much pressure. Might be just the connection. |

You're welcome. It's hard to blame anything until you have it in your hand.. Might find a blown end tank, cracked tube, a hole punched through it because a Bic pen went down the defrost.. Or the mechanic didn't get the clamp on correct.. who knows.. Let us know what you find! (does Bic even make pens anymore???) LOL |
