Hi, I just got a used 2012 Jeep Liberty and I'm getting a P0456 code now after driving for a few days. I checked under the car and I think my vapor canister is missing. Can anyone show me a picture of there own and the connections please. |

I don't have a Pic, but the vapor canister is located in the LR corner under/behind the fuel filler tube. However, this DTC involves the purge solenoid (small leak). Which is located under the hood on a metal bracket by the battery. It can be caused by a loose gas cap, nicks on the fuel filler tube, gas cap rubber seal is hard, poor hose connections at the purge solenoid, hose from the purge solenoid becoming brittle. Most often it is a loose gas cap. It will self clear with 3 good trips if the cap was loose. If you did not have a vapor canister you would have a large leak. |

My 2012 is also showing this code. I bought a new gas cap and cleared it and it popped back on within two days. Also aftet I clear it the,light goes off vut the code still comes up in my reader as permanent. I did not see any damage to the filler tube or any of the connections to the vapor canister. I just ordered a mopar replacement fuel cap hoping the replacement I bought isnt good enough. Sent from my VS988 using Tapatalk |

99% of the time with those "gas cap" lights turn on it's not actually a bad gas cap.It's just another MIL for 1 single code,EVAP very small leak, and in most cases it's either the purge valve or leak detection pump(for Chrysler if it has one). |

So I replaces my fuel cap, my purge valve solenoid and my leak detection pump. Still have the code. Kinda surprises leak detection pump did not come bbn with a new seal. So I gonna try the seal next which is not on rock auto or autozone website so I have to order it from a different site. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

I have a 08 KK I get the same code but the Jeep will pass inspection in Missouri with the code. |
