I want to put larger tires on my Liberty. How do I adjust the speedometer to read correctly with the larger diameter tires? |

One way to do it indirectly is with a GPS or a navigation app like Waze. A Scangauge is another way, once it is calibrated. Old versions of the Hypertech Max Energy tuner claimed to be able to fix the speedometer but it didn’t work and set off the ABS light. So don’t get that for this reason. The newer ones deleted the feature. It is not a big deal if you are aware of the offset. When I am driving 65 on the speedometer my actual speed is 67. I’ve verified that both on the GPS and on those radar signs that tell you your speed. Stock tire height (except on the Jet edition) is 29” tire diameter. Mine are 30.5’s. FYI you will want to keep your tire size at 31 or below unless you are planning to regear. If you have 31’s you will need a 2” lift to keep them from rubbing. |
