I want to turn my KK into an Overland Style build. I don want to go 100% Overland NG though, meaning, I don't want to actually sleep in/on it, and I dont want to modify it in a way that would make it unable to be daily driven with the family, but I want it to look and function as though it could be Overlanded. What do you guys think I should do? Right now all I have is a Daystar 2 inch and 255/70R16 Tires so I got a pretty blank slate. My wife WILL NOT let me change the wheels, she loves em, so I can't do that. A few things I was thinking was a JBA 4 inch. Rear tire mount. Roof rack. Front and rear bumper. Winch. Mud flaps? If you have some ideas post em up. Make sure to include a link to any suggested parts I should add. Here are some pics of how she sits now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

+1 on the JBA 4” lift. I have that on mine and I love it. Check out AtTheHelm Fabrication for steel bumpers, roof racks, rock sliders, and tire carriers for the KK. Prices are reasonable for excellent craftsmanship at a small shop. https://athfab.com He’s also a LOST member and you can pm him at AtTheHelm. |

If I'm going that tall and adding that much weight how you think the Diffs are gonna do and how much gear am I gonna need. How much bigger a tire can I do? I have 245/75R16 (30.5”) tires and stock 3.73 gears. It’s a reduction in power and gas mileage but doable. I should regear to 4.10 to compensate but haven’t saved up the $$$ yet. If going to 265/75R16 (biggest you can run with a 4” lift) you will need 4.56 gearing. But I wouldn’t recommend going that big. Some people have had steering rack problems with 265’s, and some haven’t. You could run more moderate 245/75R16’s on a JBA 2.5” Lift and be fine. The nice thing about the adjust a strut engineering is you can compensate for heavy bumpers and gear without sagging in the front. |

Here’s my experience researching and installing skid plates. Mopar is probably the most cost effective and most easily acquired. Some people have made custom skids but nothing I’m aware of that is easily purchased. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=69504&start=0 |

A while back I compiled an index to a number of good threads about modding and maintaining the KK. It could help answer some of your questions in the meantime, as I’m about to call it a night. This is a sticky in the KK Tech Section. Happy to keep answering questions tomorrow so don’t hesitate to keep asking. If you are going JBA 4 inch coilovers, plus a lightweight overlander ( that word always makes me laugh ) larger tires etc I would run 4.10s with 30.5-31 inch tires, any larger tire 4.56s |

Curious to know if you got any further. Hubs is an overlander and I have two libertys that I’m on the fence about which one I’m modding right now to match for shorter trips since his tundra is massive. Not having much luck for finding a kk example so I’d like to hear if you made any gear decisions. |

I got some Bilstein 5100 on the rear, and am getting ready to get some rock sliders soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |
