So I was doing some maintenance and changed the transfer case fluid. Going by the Haynes manual you are supposed to fill it until it comes out of the fill hole. Online people are saying that you just fill it with 1.25qt. I put in about 3 qt and its still not coming out of the fill hole. Has anyone experienced this before? |

I've heard of this before and seen it debated back and forth. I don't think there is a solid answer. However, the 1.25 qt seems to be what people drain out when they change the fluid for the first time. On the other hand, I have never heard of the transfer case blowing up when people run 3 qt of fluid in it. ![]() |

Specs from the 08 KK service manual: TRANSFER CASE; MP1522 approximate dry fill, 3.80 Pints, 1.9 Qts. Or fill to bottom edge of the fill plug hole. MP3022 approximate dry fill, 4.01 Pints, 2.05 Qts. Or fill to bottom edge of the fill plug hole. Is the rig sitting on level ground? |

Ya its odd. I got most of 3qt into it (some spills) as for what came out I would agree it was maybe a couple at most. The jeep was on a lift, so it was possibly tilted slightly to the front. Ill pull the plug while its on the ground today. Either way im not worried as long as 3 qt isnt going to cause any adverse effects. |
