I have a 2012 Liberty that randomly makes a rotational noise in the front end that you can feel through the steering wheel. I replaced the driver side axle thinking it was a bad CV joint, but that didn't solve the problem. The weird part is it goes away and I can drive a hundred miles with no noise, but then I drove into Seattle last night and I could also feel it through the brake pedal when slowing down in traffic. On the drive home, nothing. I am seriously stumped on this one, any ideas?

Thanks,
Wayne

Check the CV at the front of the transfer case.

Looks OK, how much play should there be when you rotate it by hand? Would that put a vibration in the steering wheel?

If the boot covering the CV is torn, then the grease is gone or going away.
The front Diff pinion will have a tad bit of rotate play(mine does).
With the CV its more up/down, side to side play when it dies. Yes it will shake the front end when it goes out. Even if not in 4x4.
Now on another note. When my LF brake caliper was sticking I could feel it vibrate in the steering wheel and the brake pedal as the disk and pads got HOT. A light touch of the pedal and you could really feel it. Not so much hear, but feel it.

Could be the hub.

In mine the left one is more than gone!!!

Sounds like when a ball bearing is bad, and when turning to the right an additional tuc tuc tuc sounds, sometimes it also flashes the traccion control light,.

My parts will arrive in a week or so.

So driving it, only for what's is required, low speed!!
