My high mileage '08 is not recognizing when the drivers door is open. The interior lights are not coming on(work when other doors open), and if the key is left in ignition the buzzer doesn't go on-therefore its easy to get locked out if the button is pushed(electric or manual).
This was intermittent for quite a while but now it's permanent.
I've looked at the wires going from door to frame and none are frayed on the outside, and it seems a broken wire would make sense but where to start? Anyway a tech suggested it might also be the latch assy so that is removed but before I try another one....

Has anyone else had a similar issue???

The sensor that controls the interior lights, buzzer, and door ajar, is integrated into the latch.
If the latch is removed, or harness to the latch is disconnected, none of the above will work.

I do not know whether that sensor is normally closed or normally open. But you can test it using the pins in the latch(Not the body harness side, the lock/latch side) Ohm test pin 3 to pin 4, then closed the latch manually(screwdriver inserted into the latch catch and push/rotate it closed). Should be 2 clicks. Ohm test Pin 3 to pin 4, again. If it had no continuity with the latch open and continuity with it closed (or visa-versa) then the sensor in the latch is OK.
Body side of the harness pin colors should be Pin 3 violet and Pin 4 Black/pink(next to each other). Not sure if those wire colors carry over to the latch side of the plug, but you can see what connects to where.

If the sensor is bad you will need to replace the latch/lock.
