Hi. I have been trying to diagnose this problem. I can see that the gear is not broken, see the motor and gears move. Hear doors opening and closing. Will be replacing the heater core this weekend. Don't want to buy a distribution box if not needed.

Might be a bit too late, but you can remove the center stack, radio, and center duct and then reach your hand down into the distribution box. I've heard of issues where the gear shears at the shaft so everything looks OK outside but is stuck on the inside.

It has been fixed. The gear on the side of the distribution box was missing some teeth. the door was just flopping loose. New distribution box, and heater core have been installed.

Nice work. I've done that job, and it takes some perseverence.

Same problem here as described by driveshaft. So if i can get my hand down through the top defroster gate, seems like I should be able to juryrig in a screw to partially open the floor gate and partially close off the defrost gate. If any team members here have done that, please advise. Thx in advance!

I replaced as well the distribution box..one hell of a job, my mechanic took two complete days to fulfill the task... ( In the way, washed/cleaned all the dash parts ), removed a lot dust...
