Sorry, but I searched and found nothing. Daughters 2009 Liberty (not sure which engine) has the check engine light on. No other symptoms. And she's 5 hrs away from me. What can we do to diagnose this before spending a load of cash at a shop? Thanks. |

Have her bring it to any auto parts store (Advance, Auto Zone, Napa, etc.). They will read the codes for her for free. Have her write down all the trouble codes. We can help interpret them (and make sure the auto parts store person is correct in their interpretation, because they aren't always). Once we know the codes, we can go from there. |

Any luck reading the trouble codes? Cheap OBDII code readers are available on Amazon if you’d rather get them yourself. |

I have a cheap (under $15) ebay one that I keep next to the seat. About once a week I get a code. I just plug it in at the next red light & read & clear the codes. Sometimes the MIL stays on until the engine is restarted. |
