Hi There!!!

Yesterday coming back home from a Sunday drive, I drove the Liberty for 35 Miles of uphill mountain road, at 45-50 mph, supposed to be easy driving, but again the old thing started to happen...

The engine got up to 3/4 overheat, all maintenance is properly done and scheduled. What is this issue, how can I solve for good, here where I live there's a lot of uphill/downhill driving, and going around felling scared of the engine blowing for something that can be prevented, is not nice....

What can I do, before I really start to think on how to get rid of it... ( yesterday came home missing the old 2001 XJ that I sold in order to get this Liberty 2008.... ). Normal daily driving is not a problem. The problem is when I want to enjoy a good long drive on the outsides...

Brakes got overheated very easily as well...

Thanks,

A couple of things come to mind.

Might be worth doing a coolant flush, replace with new HOAT coolant, then make sure there are no air bubbles in the system. If the old coolant is really dirty it might be possible part of your radiator is plugged. If non-HOAT was ever used, it can create globs that can clog the radiator and heater core.

The plastic impellers inside your water pump might be worn away with age, so it could be time for a new water pump even if it’s not leaking. The thermostat might also need changing.

Do you have an auxiliary mechanical fan attached to your water pump? This fan came with the tow package, but can be installed at any time. It has made a difference keeping mine cool.

You could always install some hood vents to let out some heat, lol.

Hi, sorry for the late reply...

At the end radiator was leaking, but only at very hi temperatures...

Ordered a new OEM radiator, OEM Termostat, Toyota OEM Coolant, and problem disappeared... No more overheating... On any circumstance.

Took good time to extract all the air, even the heater started to blow warmer than before.

Crazy, but after these service, I have the feeling that the Jeep increased a little bit it's power output...

Made peace with the Liberty.

( Water pump replaced OEM in 2017 )

It's about to hit 160k on the ODOMETER.
