| Post subject: | 2008 rear window defog relay location? |
I am trying to toubleshoot my rear defog. The grid is fine, the wires feeding it are fine and the dash light turns on when I push the button. But I have no defog. With the wires unhooked from the glass, I get 12v when I turn on the switch, but if hooked to the grid the voltage falls down to next to nothing. I am suspecting the relay that puts the high amp power to the grid is bad...but where is it? I didnt find anything labeled for it in the power center under the hood. Really want to get it working before frost and snow really settle in here. Thanks in advance. Mike |

The Defogger Relay in located on the Junction Block (Fuse Panel) in the dash on the left side. The relay's control circuit is controlled by the BCM (Body Control Module) The wiring is covered in the Factory Service Manual which can be viewed or downloaded at: http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/

Where on the left side, I see nothing under the dash. Mine is a 08, 6spd manual. I know when I push the defog button on the dash, it lights up but I do not hear any relay clicking at all. The clicking for the turn signal sounds like its directly behind the insturment cluster. |

I found it. Its labeled with 3 letters that are not what one might think the rear defog relay would be labeled with. Its in the TiPM power center under the hood on 08 and newer. Your picture must be the 07 and older version. I have it "clicking" now when I turn on the dash switch. Have to wait for a fogged up window when I come out of work at nearly 1am to give it a good test. Fingers crossed it works now. |

Sorry, what I posted was for a 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD. I did not notice yours was a 2008 model. Is it a Liberty or a different model? You really need to add your vehicle information, mods etc... to your signature in the control panel so when you post questions, readers will know what you are driving and asking about. This helps you and members when responding to a question. Go to: Upper right corner, click on "User Control Panel", then select "Profile" under Options on left, then click on "Edit Signature".  What I found for the 2008 model on line says everything is in the TIPM, Power Distribution Panel/Fuse Panel under the hood in the engine compartment. Says the location for the relay for the Rear Window Defogger is #K6, and the Fuse is at location #J14, a 40 Amp fuse (Green) See this online:> https://fuse-box.info/jeep/jeep-liberty ... and-relays
