Post subject: | Help with turnsignal issue |
Hi all, I know someone on here can help me solve this problem. My 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport 4wd is due for New York State inspection in November and I need to get this fixed for it to pass. Left front turn signal/parking light: 1) Parking light does not work(not needed for inspection) 2) Turn signal works when all exterior lights(parking/ headlights) are OFF. (sometimes blinks rapidly but still works) 3) Does flash when I lock/unlock doors using the key fob 4) Does NOT work when exterior lights are on. 5) Rear signal and dash indicator light do work. Could this be a ground issue? Any and all help is appreciated. Scott |

WWDiesel Thank you for the reply. Getting to the socket on my Liberty is a PITA but I will check it out on Wednesday (my next day off) if the weather behaves. Garage too full to pull it inside right now. Scott |

WWDiesel Just wanted to let you know your diagnosis was correct. Got a new test light and checked out the 3pins in the connector. Center was parking, outer white wire was turn signal and black ground. Checked hot leads first, no issues, tested ground per your instructions, no go. Added a new ground wire, both issues fixed. Thanks again for the help. Scott |

Hi Scott, It sounds like a potential grounding issue, especially if the turn signal works when exterior lights are off. I'd recommend checking the ground connections for the left front turn signal/parking light. Make sure they are clean and secure. If that doesn't resolve it, you may want to inspect the wiring for any damage. Good luck with your inspection! |
