Has anybody used "Scratch Doctor" by NuFinish or had sucess with similar products?

I always use 3M Finesse-It II glaze for removing fine scratches in the clear coat, it takes a polisher or a LOT of elbow grease but it is not as abrasive as other rubbing compounds so its not as apt to do damage to the paint.

I've got some really gnarly scratches on the side of my jeep from wheeling ATV trails, and Nu-finish scratch doctor made them completely disappear. (They were deep too, all the way down to the paint and beyong)

Problem is that they all came back with the first wash.

Yep, used it, have the same experience. It does a nice job of camouflage, but you have to reapply after a wash.

I'm not a detailer, and worry that I'll just make it worse if I try using polishing compound by hand so I just reapply as needed. Besides, A real wheeler has many war wounds, and can recount the dates and trails he got them on.

I've never used those particular products, but I've used similar products. If you wash it, use the scratch repair product THEN wax it (and then let your car sit in the sun for a few hours to cook the wax into the paint)... that should make it last AT LEAST a few months, if not more.

Lately Ive been reading about Meguiars Scratch X. Ive read that its a really good product to remove mild scratches, but you must work it in really good. The more you work, the better it will do.

When taking a scratch out, you are not actually removing clear coat. Scratch X only smooths out the area around the scratch to make it look like the scratch is gone. The only way to actually remove a scratch that you can feel with your finger nail, is to use a rotary buffer and remove some clear coat. Ive yet to try this and probably will not for awhile since it requires some skillz.

I've tried the products you guys mentioned ( on minor scratches ) without good results. If anyone comes up with something that really works I'd be interested.

I was thinking that if there was a way to put a little touch up paint on and then be able to smooth it over to blend it in with the surrounding finish and then wax it???????? But I don't want to make a mess.

Must be someone out there that tried something that worked????
