Any other tricks besides rubbing compound to mellow out the scratches that come from off roading?

clay bars are good, colored wax can be nice. I've heard that bringing snips or clippers for the trail helps too! :-)r

A big weedwacker or some Line-X :D
My only scratches have come from the asphalt trails and I haven't tried doing anything with them.

Just keep staring at the scratches and pretty soon you'll be desensitized to them.

OK yeah, failing that I'd use the scratch-x stuff.

I've heard from a few certain people on here that Peanut Butter will fix those scratches right up....or maybe that was wax on the plastic trim......or maybe it was even both....hmmmmm :?: :D :lol:

Scratch-x stuff ain't gonna get it in my case. I think I'd be better off using the peanut butter for a filler. :lol:
I'm pretty well desensitized by the way!

Hey Lilmatty.....you thinking about getting rid of those scratches we earned a t Kane Creek (Moab) last April?

Mine are barely visible from 10 ft away but very noticeable when the KJ is just washed and looking up close.

Oh, Kane Creek was a minor set. A couple of the OHV parks around here do the job pretty well. And there there's the mega scratch from Calico this year; ain't nuttin, not even PB, gonna take that out. :oops:

At least I don't have to see them everytime I get in or out of the Jeep. :D That side's like brand new for all I know! She can't way much about all the scratches anyway. I worked graveyard and was napping on a drive up to Vegas while she was driving and I woke up to the Jeep spinning and seeing headlights coming my way on the highway. (other dude didn't look before merging). Poor little Jeep was just 5 days old and left a little chunk of itself against the guardrail. After that, what's the big deal about a scratch?

I got a big gash on my RF flare and door panel at Calico. Every one went 'awwwwe!' but I figured it'd have gotten a lot more of those after 4.5 years if I crawled the malls. As it turns out all my dings are off road dings.

I don't worry about the scratches I can't get out with rubbing compound. I figure I will get more in the future so why fight each one. These things are Jeeps you know!

This is why I settled for no color other than white. White shows scratches/dents/scuffs scars the least of all colors, generally holds up the best to abuse, is easier to keep looking good, and is about the easiest color to color match for touch ups.

It is for these reasons that most work/industrial trucks are white.

Not only that, but I live in Florida. Gotta keep cool!
