Because of my location it's not possilble to wash the KJ and wax it in the same location. I have to drive it 30 miles from wash to wax. I also have to drive a mile over gravel. This makes it impossible to keep it clean from wash to wax. Is there a good way to clean it before the waxing like a damp towel, etc? Also the Meguiar's wax instructions say not to wax rubber, vinyl, or non-painted surfaces. I assume that it's ok to wax the lower trim? Thanks.

I am not sure what you mean by lower trim. I do not wax the black trim or rock rails on my jeep. I would suggest you just wax up in Grand Marais before driving back up the trail. You can get on a few coats of Meguiar's Quick Wax on in the time it would take for you to clean off the gravel from a trip back up the trail.

I don't have anywhere to wax inside in town and high temps aren't expected above freezing probably until May.

You can get something called meguairs Quik Detailer and use it after driving. Be sure to use alot of it and buy some good Micro Fiber towels.. It may cause some swirls if the dust is bad enough. Wouldnt be a bad idea to clay the paint also.. That will give you alot more shine and a smoother finish..

There is something called QEW which is a way to wash the jeep without water. You can research the stuff here:

Autopia.org

Have fun detailing! :)
