When I worked at a bodyshop I used laquar thinner to remove tar and road paint from vehicles.Just make sure to wash it afterwards,it won't take the paint off but can dull it if left on to long.Hope this helps. |

TurtleWax makes some Bug and Tar remover that I think works pretty well. It comes in a metal can a little larger than a soda can. |

After talking to the construction guys, it seems it's oil and not tar. (looks the same to me, cruddy black junk stuck to my paint and flares) Any new ideas? |

I agree with Neal. Use WD-40 and a heat gun or blow drier to soften it up, then very gently use a plastic razor blade and follow it up with Goo-Gone. Good as New! |

Try claybar in the sun.. works well. Follow with step 1 meguires (rubbing compound gets EVERYTHING off the paint), polish it with step 2, wax it out.. and youre done.. Ive even gotten specs of paint off months later using this method. |
