Post subject:  Renegade fender flares

Just curious, for those of you that have the Renegade with the plastic fender flares with the "rivets"....do you all Armor all them or what?
Just looking for suggestions, and ideas on what folks out there are doing...

Any/all input is welcome.
Thanks in advance,

Bry

Mine are painted so I just wax em. I think you can Armor All the non painted ones. Anyone with a Sport can help you with this question as well.

DON'T USE ARMOR ALL, it will turn them white more so if you get rain bad bad idea

NOW what will work ( I know from experiance) is Eagle 1 wet tire shine just spray on a dry rag & wipe on, I do this on my wifes 04 sport, if you spray it on it'll make a mess all over the jeep

I'm using Armor all right now...and im not so thrilled with it...thats why im asking what everyone is using.

Last time i waxed the Renegade i used that Turtle wax "rain" well you can use that on the plastic fenders. Now its been a month and the painted parts i waxed still look waxed..but the plastic flares dont...so anyway,i dont want to "wax" the fenders every time i was it.

I use Mothers "back to black" on the black exterior plastic on my truck...but only on black..so i dont know how it would work.

Thanks for the input Raceinfan.

Bryan

Post subject:  Penetrol

A product made by the FLOOD Co. is called Penetrol it's meant as a oil base paint addidtive so it smoothes out better. But if you dampen a soft cloth not dripping just moist, and rub it on the way you would use Armor All but it is more permenant. Use it sparingly and you will love the results , It's also great using a scotch brite pad on removing rust and sealing the metal. Just an old painters trick that has been forgotten due to the prevalance of water based paint.

I use a product called AERO 303 for my fender flares and tires works great. Use it a couple of times a year on all outside non metal items.

What would you use on the flares to remove the wax that the previous owne got on them? It left numerous white hazy spots on the edges.

BTW, its an '05 Renegade.

Thanks,
Bruce

Peanut butter...seriously. The oils help remove the wax...

It's good that you have those spots....it proves the previous owner waxed it!!!! :D

I use back to black on my (near) black fender flares and it makes the back bumper look like new again (for about a month). Considering what it looked like before thats saying something.

As the bottle states (I think) it doesn't have to be black, its good for any plastic I thought. It isn't like a dye.

I actually tried the peanut butter yesterday. It work about like back to black but was a bit messier to remove. I'd want to pressurewash it afterward but when I'm applying this stuff it is usally after a wash and sometimes after a wax. Kind of against the point to get it soaked again.

The other problem I see is that if you just wipe it off with a damp rag the bumper still smelled like peanut butter. You might think "who cares?" but if you've ever had mice in your vehicle you might understand why I think this is maybe not the best scent for a jeep...

It did work though!

I agree :!:
I have been using that Mothers Back-to-Black to stop and reverse the oxidation. I found it on the AMSOIL site so I tried it. Works great on my Jeep Liberty Limited CRD. It does say "this trim treatment is great for bumpers, moldings, window trim, vents, seals, skirts, door handles, wiper arms or anything that is plastic". 8)

Its called Trim Shine by the company stoners, cant even begin to say how well this works with taking wax off and shining it up, best stuff ive been able to come across in years

For the plastic trim I use 303 Aerospace Protectant. Yes it is expensive but it works better than anything I have used. If you take the time applying it and waiting for it to soak into it, it will last and it doesnt leave black lines after it rains and such. I have a limited so I use it on the roof rack caps, door handles, plastic piece on the rear bumper, and the trim below the doors. Just an FYI, you can use it on the interior, undercarriage, tires, rims, and it doenst hurt the paint. It's kind of like a spray wax when its on the paint so I dont worry about it.
