Has anyone removed their 4x4, liberty, and jeep badges? and if they have how did you go about cleaning up the area under the badge where the glue will be? also is there any holes or indents behind these badges? Thanks in advance for you help!!

Hi! I peeled off all the badges just after I bought my '03 Sport. It was easy: just get a fingernail under a corner and peel. I did it on a warm sunny day though so that might make a difference. Or if you have a heated garage it would probably help. I used Turtle Wax bug and tar remover to buff off the residue of the glue. Whole operation took about an hour, maybe a bit less. I think the KJ looks better with no badges, IMHO. :D Good luck! 8)

Edit: there are no holes or dents behind the badges.

Real easy to remove, I did have to use a hair dryer for just a few minutes to warm them up good, then just used reagular wax to get the glue off. I think taking off the "Jeep" on the hood made the biggest difference in the looks.
So take em all off! 8) :D

Thanks I got the hood and 4x4 ones off because those were peeling and looked pretty bad. I'm worried about the limited edition ones because it looks like they were already off and someone reglued them on there, there is a gold color adhesive all around the badges themselves. Is there maybe a way to remove actual glue not just adhesive like the rest? I used 3m adhesive remover that stuff eats right away at the adhesive

Thanks

use good fishing line and move it in a sawing motion, remove any remaining double adhesive with goof off, or peel it with your fingers

I just debadged my 02 (had it for 2 years) before I went camping last week.

Heating the surface the badges are affixed to greatly improves their willingness to come off. I had some crusted on wax around some of the edges that I scraped off carefully with a knife. Afterward I used a detailer and claybar to smooth everything over.

Theres a very very faint light area where the JEEP logo used to be on the hood, but its not noticable unless you're 4 inches away from it.
