On one of my wheels I have some serious baked on brake dust. I've tried everything to get it off. Any suggestions? |

Were I work we also do industrial powerwashing. We use a product that is called SC675 (don't know who makes it) and when used straight in about 10-15 seconds it totaly removes all baked on brake dust, it will leave aluminum looking polished. Find a local powerwash supply store and thats where you will find it. You have to be VERY careful using it though. |

Have you tried "cleaner wax" from one of the detailing companies (meguiars or comparable). It's got a mild solvent in it but is formulated to get rid of surface contaminants and leave a protective finish. It's really good on Diesel soot. Pretty much all the factory rims are painted, so remember to keep things wet (if you are using any elbow grease) to avoid scratching the clear. I've also used formula-409 multi-purpose to get stubborn stains off like bugs and road-tar, but it strips pretty much all the surface moisture and wax, so you'll need to follow that up with a mild-soap and re-wax/protect if you want the clear to last. I have the 06 Renegade wheels. I tried the 409 cleaner and it didnt do too much. Someone told me that there is something that is used to clean like bbq grilles that works well but i forget the name and didnt see anything at Lowes to even clean a grille. That power washer stuff may be the way to go |

NEVER use oven cleaner to clean a rim. Your rim is not an oven, its paint. Weekly cleaning is the best thing you can do to prevent this from ever happening. Other than that use a dedicated rim cleaner. Advance auto parts carries Meguiars All Rim Cleaner. Eagle One Rim cleaner is good too. Just make sure you do not get a rim cleaner that is meant for Chrome rims since our rims are Clear Coated. |

Try Bleche Wite tire cleaner... I know it says don't use on Alumunum wheels, painted surfaces, fabric and blah blah blah Grow up! Just rinse it off real well... I've used it for years with no problems If they are real bad just scrub it a bit with the tire cleaner on... It will come off. |

Now I just let my KJ be dirty but I am in the desert now, lol. Mud and sand is natures own finish protect-ant, lol. |
