I have some residue that I can only describe as rain spots on my glass and clearcoat. In fact I can see outlines of some stickers that the previous owner had on it. Does anyone know of a good way to get rid of this stuff? I assume a waxing will work for the paint but is there something specifically designed for it. |

Depends on what the residue is or if it is water spots, how bad they are. Is there any way to get a picture of the problem? I can try and recommend some solution, but I would like to at least try to look at the problem. |

A good clay bar, buff, and waxing should take care of it. I'd be careful of solutions, only becuase usually the finish ends up getting lots of tiny scratches simply from rubbing at it with a rag and cleaner... that's why a good clay/buff would be my suggestion. |

oops or lighter fluid should get it off the exterior windows with no problem makeup microfoam pads work well for working on residues on paint if you dont have a clay and wont scratch liquid glass works well as does the oops on the clearcoat to remove old adhesive junk, hit it with a dab of alcohol on a fresh pad to get any remaining chemicals off then finish cleaning the rest as usual, dry it and wax it |

didn't realize it was the whole vehicle, i'd clay it looks like hard water / road oil / "wash and wax" / rain spots |

yep, i tend to do glass last clay works good on most stuff, including chrome and high polished aluminum rims |

That is hard water spotting, Just soak rag in vinegar and wipe it away. |

yup, hardwater. the vinegar might work, then wash/wax afterwards, as the vinegar will remove any wax that's left on there tool. otherwise, clay, buff, wax will do it for sure. as for the glass... you can clay it if you claying the rest of the car. if you decide to do the vinegar method, then on the glass you can use either 4-Zero (0000) steel wool with water or windex, or they make special white nylon scrubby pads for glass that won't scratch. any local window tint place should be able to sell you one for a few bucks. they work great for removing nasty caked on bug guts on the windsheild after a long road trip too! |

Definitely water spots. You deffinitely need to clay first. However, that isn't going to remove that. You will need to apply a mild hand polish or compound to remove those. If you are doing this by hand, ths is what I recommend.. For the glass, you can use Duragloss #755 Nu-Glass. You should be able to purchase it at NAPA. For the paint, you should try a product like Meguiar's ScratchX or Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Those are sold at most any automotive store. the KIT yellow bottle of "scratch out" has worked well for me in the past with removing water spots and spots left from tree sap, i usually save my meg. scratch 2.0 stuff for actual scratches, it works very well on minor to moderate scratches or really stubborn areas |
