So it's gotten to the point that the upholstery on my front passenger seat looks so bad that people noticeably cringe a bit if they happen to see it before jumping in and settling down.

The weirdest thing is that as far as I recall there's no reason for it to be stained. I don't explicitly remember anything being spilled on it. I eat/drink in my Jeep but can honestly say that I'm usually pretty fastidious about cleaning any and all refuse up. So with that taken into consideration, I'm hoping it's not stained and just really dirty?

The question is, what am I doing wrong? Are easily soiled seats common to KJ (grey cloth interior)? And more importantly hat's the best cleaning product and/or technique to get it all cleaned up? Thanks!

i use oxy clean to scrub at the stains and then my carpet shampooer. ive noticed if you try and only do one area that it looks like it leaves water stains so i just do the entire seat so its one big water stain and you cant tell.

I had the same issue. So I put iggee seat covers on all seats and never looked back.

I bought some upholstery cleaner at Advance AutoParts and after a quick scrub, it's starting to look better.

I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that WATER leaves stains though. I mean on one hand, it's reassuring to know that I really didn't do anything to make my seats look so horrible, but on the other hand, it's water... I mean, seriously?

Maybe I'll look into seat covers once it gets a bit closer to Christmas.

I own a 2006 Jeep liberty, and water stains the seats. No amount of cleaning will remove the stains. They will come back as the fabric dries. I had to buy seat covers because the inside of my car looks trashed. The stains are coming from a white residue that comes to the surface of the fabric. The residue puddles and collects as the fabric dries. Go to the body shop of your jeep dealership and have the manager look it up in the system. There's a service bulletin for the problem. Unfortunately, from so many posts that I have read about jeeps (on this site and many others) this information seems as though it is not being given out.

I was able to remove the stains by pulling the seats out and stripping the factory seat covers off. Then they spent the day going though multiple washing cycles in the washing machine with no soap. This seems to have taken care of the stain issue.
