I washed my KJ for the second time yesterday. To my dismay I found 6 or 7 paint chips (mostly on the hood). What would you suggest I do to prevent them from rusting? I found a pretty big scratch on the rear bumper. I was going to take some rubbing compound to it. I heard rubbing compound makes the finish look hazy for the rest of its life though :?: Also, I found a lot of swirl marks on the thing. What should I do about those? :dizzy:

Thanks for all of your help!

Clay bar the entire Jeep, use touch up paint on the chips, use swirl remover (your choice product), polish then wax.

Touch up paint for the chips, for a compound that will not leave a trace, Meguire's Ultimate Compound is awesome. Depending on how bad the swirls are, you can use it to remove those. I'd recommend using a polisher though, because the Compound needs to get mildly heated to break down.

After that, I'd use Surf City Garage Nano Sealent, than Nano Glaze. And you'll have a shine like this:

x100 on the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. That stuff works great, I used if this weekend to go over the entire vehicle and it got rid of everything. Finished it off with some NXT and it look's great.

What you have on yours is a "Paint Transfer". The compound will take it off with no problems. You could use a clay bar if you wanted too, however it would probably take an hour to get it all off.
