Looks like you really put some time into that. If my truck ever looked that good I would be afraid to drive it :D How difficult was the undercoating?

Thanks!!!

Not much time, I did it over 2 days. If you have a floor jack and jack stands, it's pretty easy!

you are a fellow adam's user too?! never actually thought someone had heard of them other than from the detailing forums! you should check out detailingbliss.com for all the other really good products from other companies. are you on the adam's forum?

hoosier has your jeep ever been fully corrected? i see you posting pictures all the time after cleaning the jeep, was wondering if you had a lot of swirls? i wash my jeep a lot, even corrected it, just not enough to completely get all the swirls and defects out of the paint. of course, for your jeep it is probably hard to see since it is a light color. it's a lot easier to see since mine is blue! :|

No swirls. 8) I corrected it about a year ago, I do the harsh stuff on it every other detail, so once a year. :)

naaa. i dont follow the detail world that closely.. actually i havnt washed my jeep in months. I have an 04 GTO that i keep nice and clean :) plus i detail vehicles on the side for some extra dough. Addams and Chemical Guys are the main products i've heard about.

Don't listen to these fools. You have the cleanest Jeep on this site by far.

So I have Mothers Clay Bar Kit & Mothers California Gold Caranauba Cleaner Wax (can).

Tell me if my process is correct or not.

After washing vehicle

1. Spray area with detailer from clay bar kit
2. Slide clay bar back and forth
3. Let it dry to a haze
4. Buff with terry cloth
5. Apply Caranauba wax
6. Let it dry to a haze
7. Buff with terry cloth

Anything wrong here? Also, is there any reason for me to buy the Mothers California Gold Caranauba Cleaner Wax that comes in a bottle?

Thanks

I hope you are kidding about the fool thing...?
Anyways, after you spray the detailer on your jeep and wipe the clay bar over an area you don't have to let it haze. If it dries then it might scratch the jeep more than the marring from the clay bar causes. You can just wipe the area down after you clay it. Also, the detailer helps as a drying agent so when you are doing just a regular wash, you can spray the detailer on the entire jeep and it will help dry it quicker while preventing scratches.
I don't see a point in using the cleaner wax unless you are polishing your jeep. If you are just simply washing, claying, and waxing your jeep then you are good without it. Sometimes it is just personal preference, just like which brands you use! :2cents:

Ok. It's a little clearer.

So you glide the clay bar across the damp surface and buff it with a terry cloth immediately?

I bought the cleaner wax in the bottle by accident, should I take it back or use it after the paste wax in a can?

Post subject:  Re: Did it again

Yeah just spray some quick detailer and wipe the clay over it. Fold the clay every once in awhile and if you drop it you have to throw it away. You should buff it with a good towel immediately unless you want to spray down the whole jeep with quick detailer and wipe it down afterwards just to make sure it didn't miss any spots. Hope that part makes sense lol.
If anything you wouldn't use the cleaner wax after the paste wax. Cleaner wax is not really needed though so save the extra couple of bucks.
This is all personal opinion though. Maybe Hoosier will tell ya something different.
Haha if you lived nearby I would do all of this for ya! Detailing cars and trucks is a hobby of mine!

Actually, after I wash my Jeep (and plan to clay it) I just don't dry it off, and use the water on it to glide it, and if it needs more water, just get a spray bottle of it. Then, wipe it off. Make sure you clay back and forth, not in a swirl.

Did you buy two different types of waxes? If they are both the cleaner one, I'd take the paste one back, liquid is a bit easier to work with, IMO.

I'd actually look into getting Meguire's Ultimate Compound (do not use anything else), then using a polish, then using a Synthetic wax to top it off. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything. :)

I have heard of using the water from washing for clay lube, but I personally don't completely agree with it. I've seen someone do that around this area and it marred the truck really bad. It's all personal preference though.

Gosh I have not used Megs in forever! Probably should have saved it so I could have passed it along to ya'll! Didn't think about that...my bad.

It is easier to marr it with water, I agree, but just use more I guess. Works fine.

Great video. What's the difference in a wax and a polish?

Wax is to help protect your car from weather conditions. Plus, if you wax your jeep it's easier to clean after it rains.

Polishes can help eliminate swirls and other defects in the paint. It adds no protection whatsoever.

Usually, twice a year (once before winter and once after winter) I will fully correct my jeep which means washing, claying, polishing with a buffer, applying sealant, and then finally the wax. You will most likely have to apply wax more than twice a year unless it stays in your garage a lot. I have to put wax on my jeep around 3-4 times a year because it stays outside and it's my daily driver. Just do not polish the jeep as much as you wax it because you would just be wasting time. Detailingbliss.com is a great website to check out if you want to get more into detailing.

Let me know if you need anymore help! :D
