Looking to get a Patriot some day for the DD duties. Just wondering what you Patriot drivers are getting for mpg in real life? I know they are rated at something like 28ish on the upper end, but just wondering what you're really getting.

My wife's Caliber... (pretty much the same as Patriot/Compass)
FWD 2.0 CVT
Was doing really bad over the summer 24-25 mpg. But starting in Sept
it went up to 28-29. Could be the different fuel blend?

The 2WDs are getting decent...the 4WDs are getting not much better than the KJs. The CVT's are getting mediocre. Jeep advertized the 30mpg so hard...people thought that was what they were going to get...they didn't. Honestly, the trail rated version with a lower final drive ratio is only getting 19-20 city and 22 highway by most accounts...they are turning 3000 rpm at 110kmh (68mph).

I would bet that the lighter Compass gets a bit better.

Darby......You would think they would be much better. I don't understand it.

I have a 99 Cutlass with v6 a/t that consistantly gets 28-30 highway and it has a lot of miles on it. Took an 07 Impala to Florida and back and it consistantly got 28-30 with a v6 (3.5L) on I-95 mostly with the cruise set on 75 and loaded down with crap. I don't know what the in-town mileage is as most driving is highway. Those are much bigger and more powerful (v6's instead of a 4cyl).

I don't know why they shouldn't get better,

I am currently getting 26 miles per gallon, but the temp has dropped. When it was warmer I was getting 27-28 mpg steadily.

My Patriot is averaging 43mpg (36mpg US) on my 20 mile mixed town/country drive to and from work. On a 60-70mph highway cruise mpg is over 50mpg (42mpg US).

On the same 20 mile mixed drive to work the 2.8 CRD Auto Liberty/Cherokee does around 29mpg (24mpg US) and a loaned Dodge Caliber 2.0 CVT Petrol 26mpg (22mpg US)

Cheers

The temp rose this last week to a nice 40 degrees and my mileage went back up to 28 mpg this tank... hopefully it stays warm so my mileage can stay up too. :D

The other day I was going over my gas receipts and mileage and realized I'm getting 28 to 32 MPG highway
I can't remember the last time I drove something so thrifty. Now if only I can get some AT tires for it...

Mines still brand new on it's 1st tank of gas, so hoping it will get better in time, but I'm averaging just under 20 mpg on my instant eco.

I haven't checked it recently but the last time I calculated it (I don't have a dash display) my 2010 Jeep Patriot averaged 30 MPG. It's a four cylinder gas engine with an automatic transmission & the 4WD option.

My Patriot lacks power maybe because of the four cylinder/automatic transmission combination. And I suspect that it's not really a 4WD.

2013 Patriot with FDII:
before lift and tires: average mixed driving = 21-22mpg
after lift and tires (summer): average mixed driving = 19-20mpg
after lift and tires (winter): average mixed driving (as well as warming up the vehicle) = 17-18mpg

Hello I've been doin research for about 3 weeks now and I'm ready to buy my new or used 4x4 Patriot! I'm going Saturday 3/15/14 I have 3 picked out.

1st choice
Black 2014 FDI 6 speed auto with 2.4 has 0 miles

2nd
Silver 2012 FDI cvt 2.4 has 36,000 miles

3rd
Recovery Green 2012 cvt FDI 2.4 has 48,000 and a brush gaurd.

Anything I should look for ask about or test out on the 2012's in particular?

I really hope the salesman I've been talking to hasn't been BS'ing me and when I get there says all I can get you in at the monthly payment you want is a 4x2 with a 2.0. Wish me luck guys and I hope to have some pics on here soon. Sorry if I posted to the wrong place this is the forum I've ever been on.

No offense to LOST but there is a forum dedicated to the Patriot.
IMO as a former Patriot owner the 2.0 engine is under powered. Also f you're not familiar with the CVT transmission then make sure you test it out. Its great for offroading but it's loud.

I would go with the 2nd or 3rd choice as the Patriot does not hold its value and you can get it at a good price.
