I suppose I should make my introduction in this section of the forum...

Almost a month ago I sold my KJ. After some significant major system repairs, some existing (persistent) leaks, high miles, and intrusion of rust...and that I drive a LOT for work... I decided to put myself into something a little more road-friendly, but still off-road capable.

Enter my new 2016 Patriot Sport 4x4. It's certainly a much different animal than the KJ was, but I'm really happy with the mileage returns - so that's helping the transition. I've put over 2800 miles on it in the month that I've had it. Overall, I'm enjoying it. But it has some pretty big shoes to fill - I really loved my KJ and it was really difficult to send it on.

I do plan to lift and armor the MK... maybe even aftermarket bumpers at some point, but I'm not in a huge rush yet.
All that said, I ordered my first "mods" today - it's getting new (oversized) shoes and rims. I have a conference in Costa Mesa, CA in November... and I plan to make a significant road trip out of it. Find some trails and get a little lost. Given some of the places I'd like to go, the tires are necessary.

So that's it for now. I've come over to the 'dark side' to hang with you fine folks. Looking forward to the interesting transition.

Purchased with stock steel rims (god awful ugly), and 205/70/16 street tires.

Now: Mamba Offroad MR1X Wheels - Silver, 1-1/2" wider than stock rims
Cooper Discoverer A/T3 All Terrain tires - 225/70/R16

Little bit taller, a little wider, fills in the wheel wells a lot nicer, and no ugly rims.

That's a great looking Patriot, Jayme! Congrats on a nice new Jeep and your first mod. I like the new rims and tires on it. Cooper A/T3's are good tires.

Thanks. :) I'm looking forward to doing more with it. Hoping the lift will come next year. For now, I'm not too hesitant about getting it off the paved roads. :JEEPIN:

Been projecting to ready the MK for our upcoming road trip to Nevada.
Learned awhile back that the factory cross rails from a WK Grand Cherokee will fit the Patriot if you cut a bit over 4" from the length. So I finished that project yesterday... and I do say, they sure do look like they belong!

Oh, and I have the lift waiting to be installed... and also aftermarket replacement (beefier) rear control arms to replace the OEM versions (a must, after I bent one in Death Valley last fall).
Things are coming together. 8)

Very Nice Jayme. Haven't seen you driving around town yet.

It still looks pretty 'normal.'

You still running 'Ol Blue? :)

The lift will make it even more distinctive. Yup, still driving Ol Blue, I've only put about 5000 miles this year. Just too busy to get out.

We have the lift components already... just lacked the time to put them in. We were hoping to get it installed before our trip to Vegas, but that didn't happen... we're back.

So if not this fall, next spring. We also have some aftermarket rear control arms that will be going in as well.

After that, armor/rails. We played a little in Moab on the way back from Vegas - didn't do any damage, but did touch the underbelly on a rock once.
