I made a post a few days ago making fun on jcphoto20 by saying I'd just weld steel rod in the place of my shocks. I guess this is what it would look like if I wheeled it that way.

I can't understand how the thing gets so little articulation. It's like watching a Jeep Powerwheels offroad.

That is one of the perks with the Commanders V8's. They Have a ton of power. There have been a few time when I did not have the clearance but I did have the power to push through some nasty stuff. Yes I have full skids. Love it.

Who cares about power, it's all about torque.

Hemi 375lbs torq

Crd 295lbs torq

I know what you are going to say next so go ahead and make your statement clear the first time if you are going to try to be the man.

torque is not going to get you through everything, not to mention you just suck a ton of gas if you have to keep slamming your gas every single time. Im sure the commander is a great vehicle, but the thing needs to flex a bit more, i seen that at camp jeep and it was the most unstable of all the jeeps there. Though the most unstable jeep is still probably 10x more stable then any ford suv for off roading lol. Remember, the bigger the numbers an engine produces, the bigger the gas bill (desiel being a little but of an exception)

Yes the Hemi has alot of torque, but at a much higher RPM than the CRD's 295ft-lbs at 1800 RPM,better suited for offroad and towing. Now a Hemi in a KJ,that would be hot!

From the pics I've seen, those aren't very impressive offroad. The look has grown on me, just like the KK will in the near future, but they just dont seem as trail-oriented as the KJ. :)

So I ask myself Recon, why would you say V8 instead of Hemi because Hemi is much cooler? I know, because you were refering to the 4.7 V8, but that's okay. The 4.7's are cool. My sister has an '06 Jeep green Limited and it's a pretty nice ride. I have towed her 25 ft travel trailer with both the CRD and Commander and the CRD won hands down, and both were equipped with the trailering package. The Commander was having trouble maintaining 45mph on the freeway when going up 7% grades. The CRD did that same stretch with the same 4000lb trailer doing 70mph. It's not necessarily the amount of torque but it's where the torque is available. Once you go Diesel, Hemi just isn't all that appealing.

In the beginig of your statement you said your sisters 4.7....Then you claim " once you go diesel the Hemi isnt that appealing"... The 4.7 is not a Hemi...so how can you speak on the Hemi behalf..In my opinion the diesels sound like hell in stink like well diesel. But hey you can go Bio and I give you props for that. I rode in a LAV 25 for eight years ...the fumes of Diesel remind me of of the 9-5 grid line...( Iraq border) The Commander in this pick is the Hemi.... But the new Commanders have that crapy 6-8-6-8 Hemi in them...They give you the * when you need it othrwise your running on 6...Forget that crap Ill take a 4 door wrangler.

you should research into what the "when you need it" means before judging it because you obviosuly dont. I have been in those " when you need it" vehicles many times and you dont even notice the cylinder shut off because its only when your basically completely off the throttle and cruising when it shuts off. When you're at a stop light and give it gas to move, it uses all 8, when you give it gas on the highway, it uses all 8 and you dont even feel it fire up all 8. Its for better gas mileage, people cant complain about gas mileage if they dont even take advantages of ways to help it.
