I have 4 very low STT;s after only 18,000K's and a KJ the really needs either smaller rubber or re-gearing but all the big $$ are all heading houseward atm only little $$ for jeepy

so should I

buy 5 new 245/75's Cooper ST's at $1700 and forget about regearing - Would appreciate thought from those running that size rubber on gearing

or buy three more STT's 265/75's, ($1000) use the spare and use a low one as the spare, and save the difference for gears

or go with differnet rubber all together

Mate I got 5 Mickey Thompson ATZ (i.e. 245/75 R16) for $255 each so thats only $1275... and I have been very happy with em.....don't know if that helps but I certainly wouldn't be going back to a tyre that I only got 18k out of!!

Yeah, the STT's wear heaps.. I'm happy with my MT's.

But even at 31's I'm still thinking aboot regearing..

I just bought five Bridgestone Dueler AT D694s 245/70/16 Light Truck spec for $250 each, that's $1250 total. These tyres have a diameter of 751mm, or 30". The BFG T/A KOs in 245/75/16 in Light Truck spec are 30.5". So I feel like I got a 75 section tyre but don't have a clearance problem. If you want a set of five Wrangler S4s just to stay legal I'd be happy to sell you my old ones (50% tread left on four and one (the spare obviously) has never been used.

18000 is real bad Steve, I've got 30'000 on my STT's and they aren't 1/2 way yet. You can cosider the 265/70/16 as you would have made some room for the extra width. But you may have 17" rims (can't remember).

Sadly its probably the gravel roads, I think cmohr lost a lot of tread from STT's on gravel and thats what I seem to be getting, can almost see it flying off in the mirror.

Yeah, wore 7-8mm of tread in 9 days driving on dirt roads. You could actually see the diference in the tread depth from looking at it in the morning, then looking at it at the end of the day!!!!!

265/70/16 still gives you the width but is that little bit less height, so you will get back some economy and power. I'm happy with my 31/10.5/15's but you would need to change rims, plus make sure you have enough lift/clearance to run them, I'm more than happy for anyone to test fit mine to see if they will fit.

Fros, has those Hankook MT's 265/70/16's they look really impressive.


I also think I know where a set of 4 255/70/16 BF Goodrich AT's are with 8mm of tread on em for somewhere like 300 - 400 bucks... If that helps get you by.
