We've discussed Recovery Kits, well what should we be carrying to an event like Camp Coffs. The recent talk about the socket sets and torque wrench over on the Skid Plate thread made me think about what I think I should take.

On long tours I tend to carry (in my camper tool box): A big adjustable spanner, a couple of small adjustable spanners as well, a four size tyre wrench, bottle jack, jack plate, some screw drivers (flat blade and Phillips), vise grips, and consumables like oil, spare air and oil filter.

Notice no BFH, as I have found that my big spanner works ok.

Now for something like Coffs are we going to need a full service mobile tool shed, complete with torque wrenches, sockets sets, jack stands, impact wrenches, etc - or does Jeep Action provide that? In other words what is the lightest tool set that would cover the needs?

Of course if we were smart and organised, we would agree before hand on who was to bring what and then we would probably have everything covered. 8)

For any major recovery work there are always professionals available. Last year I think Hammond were there in force, and I expect they will be there again this year.

So all you need is the stuff to do quick trackside repairs - tape, binding wire, plus some basic tools. Unless, of course, anyone explodes a front diff - but a lot of us carry 36mm sockets these days!

It's not as though we are going far away from civilisation!

With cmohr"s "I'll bring the cheesecake", and Fouro's at that curry festival, there could be an interesting conjunction of 'C' food! Curried Cheesecake, Cheese Curry, best keep these guys down wind.
