Just spoke to Jeep and they said all they do is check to see what the code is (I already told them that  ) then they clear the ECM and reset the computer. After that they simply look to fix the problem, that's as far as the scan tool goes... so they say.

Which dealer was that, I want to make sure I avoid them in the future? What's the point of having all this electronics and the massive wiring looms if all they do is reset the ECM and clear the code (we can do that). My dark side leaps to the conclusion that they are seeking to justify a large labour charge for 'Looking in to it".

Unlike CD, I know which Chris you are referring to!

Took it to Albion yesterday and the scan tool showed that it was a glowplug issue. They cleared the error but it returned before I'd reached Abbottsford Rd - however it's not a major worry as it doesn't affect the performance. Booked in for the 50,000 service next Friday and will get it fixed then.

Just realised that I will be at Deepwater next Friday! Better ring Craig and rebook!

Chatswood.

I drove it to Mannell Motors http://www.mannellmotors.com.au/ they did a good job last time I took it there so after talking to them about it I took a chance and drove it up. That wasn't a nice drive.

Any way they think it's a solonoid that needs replacing, however they are going to try cleaning it 1st. Then see if it's working, if not it will be a $300 part + labour. Hate to see what Jeep would have charged.

Just remember Chris, that when Chris asks Chris a question he expects Chris to answer, so if Chris answers instead things can get very confusing!

Well Mannell Motors have suggested I take it to Jeep, they can fix it but they have been told by Jeep that the part they want to replace shouldn’t fail... thus further cost if no result. It’s running but quite ruff so enough to get it down to Chatswood. They (Mannell) are happy to do it but recommend I don’t spend the cash, so I’ve bitten the bullet and booked it in for tomorrow. I will ask more detailed questions regarding the scan tool and how it’s going to help as I was a little flawed by this morning’s response.

No charge for today’s work either :D

Got it Jeep Chatswood this morning and the scan tool put up another error

P0123 Throttle position (TP) sensor A/accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor A – high input Wiring short to positive,TP/APP sensor, ECM Throttle position (TP) switch A/accelerator pedal position (APP) switch A – high input Wiring short to positive,TP/APP switch, ECM

It drove fine all the way to Jeep from home but the engine light had come on again. After Jeep checked code and cleared the thing we started it again with no problem or engine light. I was adviesed to drive it and see what happens... not to spend any dosh just yet. If it happens again they will sell me the part (sensor) and I can fit it or get whoever to do it.

Anyone else had this error code?

Oh OK, so did it throw up the same code then. The TP sensor is mentioned in the error code info so it could have been. Do you remember what it cost?

Yeah, it was the 0123 code, and cost in the region of 300-400 to replace by Jeep.

Thanks Mikey, I was thinking it would be around that much for the part alone.

Chris the 0123 code is another Fuel and Air Metering code, specifically : "Throttle/pedal position sensor/Switch A circuit high input". I hope that helps, isn't it going to SVM at Chatswood today?

I've have a Scan tool your welcome to borrow. If you need me to drop it off I can do that as well as I'm not working today.
