I've found my accelerator pedal sits alot closer to the firewall than the brake pedal does.
I just find it annoying as if I move my seat forward then I'm hugging the steering wheel.

Is this normal?
I looked in the service manual and doesn't mention anything about accelerator pedal adjustment.

Yes it is normal to be like that, my XJ was the same, 'tis a bit anoying especially after driving the other cars (lancer and commondors) where the pedals are at the same level. Haven't looked into changing it though, just got used to it.
Cheers

yep, me too. When I let my cousin drive mine, the first red light, he said he couldn't find the brake pedal in a split second, he freaked out. He is driving ML350, and that thing is level as if they measured it to 100th of an inch. Yes, it is very convenient to drive like that, but I got used to mine.

the accelerator is further away than the brake to prevent you accidentally clipping the accelerator with the side of your foot when going for the brake
important when in low range & sudden application of the accelerator could cause a sudden lunge or surge :o

yeah it's a jeep thing... that's the answer i got from jeep.com
