that's right... i now need my left hand mirror replaced for the fourth time...

the electric folding mechanism has packed it in again. that's three duds on the left & one replacement on the drivers side

does anyone else have a problem with them stuffing up?

i've tried folding them in every time i park the kj... no good... i've tried leaving them unfolded & still stuffed...
it's really peeing me off, the last time i used the kj on tues night the mirrors were fine, took it out on sat arvo & the mirror's stuffed!

the kj's not my daily driver & it's parked inside the garage with piped music & an electric blanket... it can't be kids stuffing around with it.

my concern is when the warranty runs out i'll be up to pay for the repairs @ dealer prices. can't find any info on how to fix & the dealer has replaced the whole mirror every time. must be a design fault or am i doing something wrong???
it's not the worst thing i know but it's the little things like that that get under my skin.. rant over... :x

I had both mirrors replaced under warranty on the 2002 Sport. Fold them in each time I drove it into the garage. No further troubles after replacement up to the time I swapped it in for the current one.

Hmmm.no probs with mine, but, I have heard of other cars brands having similar problems with theirs. Must admit, rarely ever use the fold in mech, mainly where I'm offroad and trees come too close. Is it mainly breaking in cold wheather??? maybe the grease they use freezes/binds up, see if they can be done with that white molycoate grease, they use it on the space shuttle, same lubricating properties +or- 200 deg.

Or maybe a short in the system somewhere??? Often when the same part continually fails its not that part to blame but something in the system, Could be worth talking to an auto elect about.

My drivers side went funny the other week. We always move them in when parked at home & the shops. One morning the drivers side kept on going around to the front, so I folded them both back & tried it again with no problems. Not sure what's going on there.

cool, thanks guys... it's not the whether, has happened when warmer as well.
the first time it happened you could hear crunching inside the mechanism & the motor would spin... every time thereafter the motor would just stop

i'll squeeze the dealer to find the issue & fix it once & for all. wish me luck!

I recently bought my first jeep... 06 Cherokee CRD... when i got it from the dealer, the drivers side mirror (right hand side) didn't fold.. passenger one did... i just assumed (probably rather stupidly) that the drivers one didn't fold because you can just wind the window down and reach out and fold it manually... if i'm reading thee posts right, both mirrors should in fact fold at the same time.. or is drivers side folding an option?

Didn't have any issues with our power ones in the 03 CRD till the missus snapped both backwards :ROTFL: Just replaced them with manual folding ones. 2 shipped from the states cheaper then 1 locally.
