Had a problem with my clutch the other week - it started smoking badly as I was reversing the camper trailer onto a site. Albion Jeep checked it out when I took the KJ back for its post-delivery inspection and decided to replace it under warranty. When I checked a few days later to find out when it would be done I was told the new clutch had to come in from Singapore.

Well, they replaced it this week, but in doing so they stuffed up the clutch pedal hydraulics by opening a connector in the sealed system - even though the service manual says in bold type, twice,

NOTE: The clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder
and connecting line are serviced as an assembly
only. The linkage components cannot be overhauled
or serviced separately. The cylinders and
connecting line are sealed units.

so when I went to pick it up the clutch wouldn't disengage properly even with the pedal hard to the floor, until I pumped the pedal several times to try and absorb the air.

They said they would get a new assembly flown up overnight so it could be installed today, but when I rang yesterday they said "Sorry, but the part has to come from Germany".

Don't Jeep stock ANY parts in Australia?

There's your problem....Albion.

I find it "strange" that they don't have the part in Australia somewhere, but, nothing "surprises" me these days.

You should ring the parts guys at Mansfeild and see if they have one, don't let on that you have been told it has to come from Germany, and see what the result is..

Chris, that is pathetic on they're behalf.

Demand that you want it drivable today and get them to pull the part off a new car in the sales yard - when I used to work there they were doing stuff like that all the time (ie pinching parts from new cars to get customers' going)

Stu, I sent an email to Craig the service manager yesterday, copy to Cherokee Bob. No reply from Craig yet, but one from Bob saying he'll keep an eye on the situation.

Your suggestion was my intention for next week if there's no sign of the parts arriving - but I don't know how many manuals they keep in stock, since most sales are autos!

Chris, I think your Manual was the last one in captivity, no more as far as I have heard..

I seem to remember one of the XJ lads on ausjeep had exactly the same thing happen to him a while back, dealer said 3weeks to get part, I think he eventually got it from Wooders, he had it instock.
