It's been so quiet at work for the last 7 day's. All the paper rep's are telling us it's all over Syd so don't worry about it. personally I'd prefer to be on leave when it's quiet, the boss walks around asking if I have any new jobs all the time. I've only got 2 clients & I'm not even a sales rep :x .

I couldn't stand it so I left work today at 3.45 and had a hair cut, got home at 4.50. Nice and early, my kids thought it was so good that I was home they stuffed around till 7.30

Let's hope it picks up.

Yeah, its a little patchy in Brissy too, lucky it's slow at the moment as we were pulling out one of the Indigos today and should have a brand new model in by Thursday...I'm a little bit happy about that I must admit, but, for the next 2 days or so I don't have a press, so I'll have to do quoting and stuff to fill in my days, or my personal favourite (kidding of course) cutting down business cards or even the Dreaded celloglazing machine.......

A new press, things must be good. An investment in the future is always a good investment. Work picked up a little today, perhaps we will see a change (now I wish it was quite again  )

Chris, I'm a web dev.
Currently developing intranet for a plumbing company with SMS dispatch, and day-to-day scheduling as well as accounts system.
pretty boring though.

You guys should be posting more if you are quiet at work haha

HAHAHA....Thats funny. Because I like wine, and, I don't like printing

Penfolds are big Chris...Very Big, Lots of owners...Lots of staff, and I think they now have Prism software for quoting and production management.

I don't like BIG. Having said that, IPG (thas where I am) is one of the 10 biggest in Qld. We even have an office there in old Sydney town.

Yes I know, they are a listed company. I was kind of offered a job at Penfold Buscombe Syd (sorry Ed, should have put Buscombe in last post :D ), but it wasn't paying enough & I'd just left SOS & didn't like being a number. They have Prism Win which I used for about 6 months a few year's back. I've been told that it's fully linked up to all the press, production planning & quoting + there MASSIVE DIGITAL production board WTF. I've not seen it but been told about it.

We use Quote & Print (were I am now), I've used it for 2.5yr's. I hated it at first, I was sent to training at Burwood on my first day (so I could jump into the roll faster, having never used it). Now I like it, very user friendly + it's easy to manipulate  Got to love that.

I'd say if I could start my working again from school I'd be a mechanic, probably as I's so bad with cars & I'd like to know more. Or perhaps a brain surgen

The more work you do on your car, the more you learn.
You kinda get a sense of pride after your first DIY oil change.
Then after your 500th or so oil change... you CBF and you pay someone else to do it

CBF

Your right....thats why I bought the KJ, so I wouldn't have to work on the "car" anymore..

Quote and Print eh, I've had very little to do with it, and have been on Prism for the last 7 or 8 yrs now, so I'm kinda used to it. Once you know your way around it, its great. And i'm lucky the Australian Implementation guy for Prism is a good mate of mine, so anytime I need a hand with it, I get Free help.. :D

Brand new Indigo 5000 Digital offsett press shows up Friday lunchtime.....I'm fairly excited about that..

These digital things have a print size of 450mm X 320mm, I used to run a web digital press, could do a print 580mm X 25metres.!!!! All in Hi-res , the print file was 12gig  .

We do have a proofing machine here which is basically a big inkjet printer, we can do A1 size posters on that. The biggest printing press here is able to print a sheet 760X560 at a speed of 15000 full colour sheets an hour..

That's huge, what's that sort of work for (wall hangings?).

Were an A2 company, the boss has no intention of ever going A1  We do OK.

Thats what my boss's always said, but, apparently we're getting a A1 ???

Yeah wall hangers, banners POS displays, A1 posters that sort of thing, it could also print books, brochures, short run presentation folders, as well, even printed a newspaper on it once. Impressive, put a roll of newsprint on and ran for 6 kilometers of paper.
I don't run that thing anymore , that was at the last place I worked, It was a real handful and very very touchey, the Indigos I run now are brilliant!!!
